This Saturday we head out to the Ida Valley and Klifden Station. Please meet corner Walton & Thompson streets at 12 noon ,to catch a bus ride out , with A-Ls duty pack this week.
Saturday saw another good turnout of around 40 members, for a harrier outing starting on Fraser Weir road.
Not sure it was the walk that attracted so many ,as there is a very steady climb up the hill to start this walk. More likely that as we climbed , we started seeing more sunshine than we have seen in the past week or two. We will just ignore those from Roxburgh who claimed to have been in sunshine all week.
A big group of W1 walkers (20 or so ) headed up the Fraser Weir road , before turning off and heading towards the Hawksburn Clyde lookout road.
Not sure what was going on with this group ,but several in this group were observed “running” towards afternoon tea. If this carries on , we may have to restart the running group.
The W2 group had 16 this week, not 15 or 17,but 16 walkers. By the time they got to the flatter area of the weir road , they were well spaced out.
However they kept an eye out for each other and regrouped at the siphon , to return along the pipeline and back onto the road.
The W3 group found their way down to some of the Clutha River tracks , before returning for afternoon tea.
This week we try to make it 3rd time lucky getting to Klifden Station in the Ida Valley. First scheduled visit, Omakau bridge was closed , a month later and snow hit the area ,so hopefully all goes well this week. For those heading up the ridge, the altitude can make for cooler temperatures , so remember thermal layers and a windproof layer.
The committee has continued to work on club constitution. Although approved at the AGM , we have continued to work on it clarifying aspects to meet the new regulations. The committee hopes to have a final version available later this month ,which we will send out to you all.
Then next month , we will hold a special general meeting to pass the new constitution. We will probably hold the SGM at then start of one of our regular outings . Details will follow as they come to hand.
That’s about it for another week ,expect some more cloud this week , with hopefully a bit of sunshine making an appearance from time to time.
And hopefully we will get to Klifden on our third attempt
See you there
Gary
