Lower Manorburn Dam Harrier outing

This Saturday will be an early start, meet corner Walton & Thompson streets at 12 midday , to catch the bus to Arrowtown with M-Zs duty pack this week.

Last Saturday was a typical Central Otago autumn day, blue skies and warm temperatures for the harrier outing in the Lower Manorburn dam area.
13 W1 walkers headed along the rail trail and up into the hills . They managed to find a dam wall to walk across , as well as get a photo of the elusive rock wren.
They managed to explore some new country south east of the dam , not that they got lost or anything , just not quite in the exact geographical location they expected to be at.. So logically following on from this , they were not over half an hour late back to afternoon tea. But the rest of us heard the local Tui calling out “Yeah ,right”

The 16 W2s skirted around the edge of the dam , fighting their way through some overgrown trails , before descending the hill. They were down the hill too early , so were diverted around an old water race before dropping back onto the rail trail.

The select group of 5 W3s took in the rail trail and some of the lower elevation tracks in the area , before returning to base.

The treasurer reminds members subscriptions are due now, pay $40 into Alexandra Harrier & Walkers Club account 03 1733 0004935 00
And remember to put your name and sub down as a reference , so he knows who has paid.

This Saturday we are heading to the Arrowtown area , exactly where i am not sure. But somewhere clear of the ponds and duck shooters. The bus will leave at 12 midday , so you will need to have an early lunch or bring a sandwich along. A reasonable day has been booked in , not as sunny as this past Saturday , but no rain either.

Hope to see you there.
