This Saturday is another local outing, this time out to the Lower Manorburn Dam. Meet corner Walton & Thompson Streets at 1pm to car pool out.
A-Ls duty pack again.
Although it was Easter and there was no official walk , 9 members did turn up for an un-official walk. There was a combination of W1,W2 and W3 walkers in the group. Pam had suggested a 2 hour walk along Tucker Hill, the Old Coach road and back down Little Valley road.
We concluded Pam had been out on too many walks led by Peter, as the 2 hour walk became one just over 3 hours. Some weary walkers finally made it to the Ida , for a very welcome liquid refreshment. The first one barely touched the sides. However it was a lovely afternoon for a walk .
You will note that this Saturday the A-Ls are duty pack again. This was due to a mistake in the programme ,showing M-Zs duty pack Easter weekend , when no official outing. However if we made M-Zs duty pack this week ,it would mean the rest of the year the programme would be out of kilter.
Whilst on the subject of afternoon tea , this should not start until the time suggested by the club captain or president. So if the club captain says back for a cuppa at 3:15pm and your group gets back at 2:45pm , you have a half hour to fill in before starting. If all groups are back early ,it is fine to start early.
Otherwise one group may feel left out ,too late for a cuppa or missing their afternoon tea. You are a walking group after all ,not a afternoon tea group.
Harrier curling team . For a number of years the AHWC has entered a team in the social Curling competition.. Sue Helm has offered to organise the curlers this year. Ideally ,we would like about 8-10 people keen to give it a go. There are 4 to a team, but not everyone can make it every week ,hence the need for extra bodies. There will be a practise night this Thursday 24 April at 7pm at the ice rink for anyone wanting to try it out. The competition will start Thursday 15 May. Games last an hour and depending on the draw , start at 6pm,7pm or 8pm and cost $10 per person. If interested, see Sue at harriers or contact her on 027 666 8866
This Saturday we are in the Lower Manorburn dam area .We will car pool out at 1pm and park beside rail trail ,just before the bridge over the river.
We have permission from Matangi to walk the old Coach road and the Lower Manorburn area ,so plenty of options available
I have booked in the sunshine , so hope to see you all there.
