Autumnal Arrowtown

This Saturday the harriers are closer to home with a walk in the Omeo Gully area. Meet corner Walton & Thompson streets at1:00pm to car pool out with A-Ls duty pack this week.

Saturday saw a smaller group than usual of just 31 ,catch the bus to explore the Autumnal scenes in the Arrowtown area.
10 W1 walkers got off the bus just past the Bungy bridge , to walk back along the walking cycling trails, back in around 2 hours for afternoon tea.
Yes that’s right , back on time , no slight detours into Queenstown and back. No great hills to climb.

16 W2 walkers got off the bus at the Arrow junction , walking up the Arrow river trail to Arrowtown. Back in plenty of time for some to carry on into town to make use of bathroom facilities and explore the shops. Whist some trees had lost their leaves already , the hillside was still a riot of colour.

Meantime ,a group of 5 W3 walkers explored the pubs and cafes of Arrowtown , or maybe just explored the streets and trails around old Arrow Town. Good to see all groups back on time to the bus

President Mike reminds members he will take a group of trampers into the Routeburn track on Matariki weekend. Plan is to leave Alex on the Friday morning 20 June and walk into Routeburn Flats, Saturday up to Routeburn Falls ,and then return on the Sunday. He will hire a mini van to get there and back.
If interested please get in contact with Mike on 027 275 0369 or email michael.kotkamp@gmail.com
When he has some idea of numbers interested , he can advise costs and what to bring along. Sorry , he does not have a supply of Sherpas to carry your bags, so you can just walk in. You will have to carry your own gear.

This Saturday we are much closer to home , car pooling out to Omeo Gully at 1pm.For those keen , there will be some good hills to get a workout on
Another fine autumn day has been booked in for the walk.

PS if you are in the Pines area early on Thursday morning, knock on Ewans door or tap on his windows, to wish him a happy birthday
