Closing day 2024 Alexandra Harrier season

Saturday saw some high cloud but mild conditions for the final outing on the harrier calendar for 2024.
The long walkers turned up at 10:30 at the Ice Inline carpark , but could only find enough for 1 car load for their walk.
I would like to say dozens turned up at 11:30am for the remaining walkers , but we only managed 20 or so.
They wandered past the pool and on up onto Boot Hill. By the time they got to the Manuherkia river end , they had broken into 2 groups.
The W1/2 s took in some ups and downs to ,make their way back. The W3/4s took more of a down and along return, getting to the rail trail and back to the Bowling club.

Another ½ dozen or so emerged from the woodwork to join us for lunch and a drink. Apparently the whitebait patties were still not on the menu , but the roast beef and veges followed by dessert were . Can’t have been too bad, as several went back for seconds.

Club treasurer John filled in for President Mike and Club captain Jojo , thanking members for their support ,thanking our bus drivers John and Graham (who were not there ) , as well as thanking committee members for their help over the past year. And also thanking land owners for providing access to their land for our walks

1 December 4pm nibbles and drinks for a pre-Christmas get together at the Ida Kitchen and Garden bar.(Monteiths eh )

March 2025 Harrier AGM ,we will probably have to ratify a new constitution to comply with New Incorporated Societies Act , and of course always looking for fresh volunteers for the committee

Reminders will be sent out closer to these dates

So that’s about it from me for this year , just watch for a reminder before December .
The weather god is going on holiday , so don’t be surprised to get a wet cool Saturday this weekend .
Take care all and keep on walking. Hopefully by next season you will be far enough away. ( just joking ,maybe )
