Earnscleugh Tailings This Week!!

This Saturday, May 2, we head for Arrowtown by bus. This is to avoid all the old ducks in the club being shot at on opening day of the duck shooting season. We leave at 12 noon.  The duty pack is A to L. If you haven’t already done so, please complete your membership application form and pay your subs. You have to do both these things to apply for membership as we are now governed by the requirements of the Incorporated Societies Act 2022.

The bus will pick up people at Clyde or Cromwell if you arrange this with Graeme Letts or let someone know on the day.

On Saturday we were lucky to get a last taste of summer with sunshine accompanying our afternoon tea at Como Villa. It was a good turnout of Harriers with new faces as well as old faces returning. Obviously, it’s grape season, judging by the variety of grapes on the table at afternoon tea. Johnny Chapman, our host, was keen to offer a visiting neighbour’s dog as a raffle prize. Tui was fairly relaxed about the whole situation and finding himself in Harrier company. He didn’t say no when offered food from the table, anyway. Johnny seemed to think there were more Harriers around this year, it might have been the good weather.

The W1’s and W2’s were a bit confused about meeting up with each other on the tailings several times, I hear. In the end they decided to join forces for the River Walk and road back to Como Villa.

Please send photos you take on our outings to photos@alexharriers.co.nz Not all photos will make it to the weekly newsletter, but they will all be put onto the Club’s website, https://alexharriers.co.nz/. If the photos are sent in before Tuesday’s deadline, they have a better chance of being used in the newsletter.

Hopefully, I’ll see you on Saturday

Gary.
