HI All
Great to see all the familiar faces for the first outing of the season last Saturday! The weather gods provided a great day for walking (thanks Gary for putting in a good word with them!!!) and it sounds like there was plenty of walking and talking happening throughout the afternoon!!
The three W3s started off walking up the Manuherekia River and across the bridge where club captain Jojo headed off home to grab her bike and then the two remaining W3s wandered up the rail trail for a while and then back to afternoon tea via Lookout Drive.
Barb led the W2s up Boot Hill, but also lost three at the bottom of the hill who opted for a flatter walk along the bottom of Boot Hill and headed back through the pines and businessmans track for their afternoon tea. The remaining 13 or so followed Barb up Boot Hill, down the hill and through the pines for a leisurely walk and catch up, with everyone enjoying the first 2026 walk!
A dozen or so W1s walked over the new bailey bridge, down to the Old Graveyard and up to the Red Gate on the Old Coach Rd. Im guessing the talking might have been slightly reduced as its a fairly steep climb from memory! They then descended down through Poo Gully, past the poo plant and back across the new bailey bridge. Following on from last years tradition, they were the last group back by a good half an hour!!
Back at afternoon tea, Gary graced us with his presence with everyone happy to see him back. Jill and Glenda also arrived just in time for a cuppa and catchup with everyone too!
This Saturday, we have the first of our bus trips to the Ida Valley. Its an early start, meeting at midday so please make sure you are there early to get your seat on the bus so we can get away on time!!
Date – Saturday 18 April 2026

Event fee – $5 per member; $10 per visitor
