Saturday saw about 24 club members turn up for a local walk , but 43 turned up for lunch.
All walking groups headed into the pines, the W1 & W2 groups crossing the road to skirt the golf club and make their way over to the rail trail.
They turned off and up into Boot hill before returning , whilst the W2s cut back thru the High School grounds and thru to Blackmore Park .
Then , all these people started appearing out of the woodwork , for lunch at “The Station” , a first for many.
Plenty of food appeared to keep the hungry harriers happy.
Thanks to the Roxburgh girls for the sunshine , and club captain Jo tried to squeeze in a survey of club outings likes and dislikes.
That should just about be it from me this year. The club will have a get together on Sunday 7 December 4pm at Ida for a couple of pre Christmas beverages.
I will try to remember to send a reminder out closer to then.
Club constitution – the committee has finalised all the changes required to be included in our new constitution , which the club will look to adopt
At our AGM on 18 March 2026. I will send a copy out to everyone in February 2026 for you all to read. It is an increased size of document, most of it new legal requirements around membership and records ,as well as dispute resolutions.
At a loose end in 26. Consider serving on the club executive ,how about (deputy) club captain , (vice) president , or just the committee.
Vacancies are available. I know when I was president , the immediate past president found me a new president so he could retire.
So before I sign off for the season we need to thank a few folk. Graham & John for driving the buses, Jo for organising the outings and the rest of the committee for keeping the club running smoothly throughout the year.
Also take time out to remember past members, who have passed on over the past year. A gentle reminder we are mortal and not getting any younger.
And perhaps in 26 we can get some more members running at harriers again.
Take care all over summer. Although harriers closes down for the summer , there are other groups who continue with regular walks over the summer months.
Hope to see you all at Ida on 7 Dec
Gary
