It’s the final countdown to the end of the 2025 Harrier season. This Saturday you are asked to meet at 11:30am at 50 Boundary Road, Alexandra (The Station )
Where we will head off for a final local walk with the harriers for 2025. This will be followed with lunch at “The Station” with lunch served at 1:30pm
Saturday saw over 40 members turn up for a walk to Pinders Pond in the Roxburgh area. The Roxburgh girls promised sunshine for the day and sunshine is what we got. We may have to promote them to looking after the weather this Saturday as well.
About 20 W1 walkers got off the bus at Ladysmith road and started heading for Pinders Pond. Rumour has it that they took off like a rat up an aqueduct.
Voom , they were gone ,not looking back , so the group was well spread out by the time they got to Pinders Pond
The 17 W2 walkers got off the bus where the Clutha Trail crossed the road towards Millers Flat. Again ,the walkers took off like the proverbial rat up an aqueduct , only slowing down to normal pace after a couple of km.
Even mum and daughter on their bikes had trouble catching up and getting past these walkers.
The remaining walkers stayed on the bus before getting to Pinders Pond ,walking towards the W2 walkers. They left an old dog to guard the bus until their return.
The W2s were back early 2:50pm ,with the W1s only 10 minutes behind. The poor old billy barely got a chance to boil. But with a choice of 5 cakes on offer , it was impossible to hold the hordes back from afternoon tea. They made the most of the sunshine on offer and were reluctant to reboard the bus home.
This Saturday is a local outing at the earlier time of 11:30am. We will meet at 50 Boundary Road outside The Station , our lunch venue. For those of you too slack to walk (or injured) lunch will be served at 1:30pm, so make sure you are there before then. Long range forecast for Saturday is for some showers , so I will pass the sunshine responsibility onto the Roxburgh girls , who did a fine job last Saturday.
Hope to see you all there.
Gary
