Harriers take off from Alexandra Airport

This Saturday is the penultimate outing for 2025 harrier season. Please meet corner Walton & Thompson streets at12:30pm to catch the bus to Pinders Pond with M-Zs duty pack

Saturday saw 20 mad walkers and runners meet up at the Alexandra Airport. There was some discussion about the light rain falling , has there been some fallout with the local weather god ? Or was there a bit of pressure from those having done their spring plantings wanting a good soaking to get them going.
The answer can always be that without the odd rainy day ,people don’t appreciate all the fine days they get. We don’t have to worry this Saturday though, as the Roxburgh girls say “no rain for a walk in the Roxburgh area” this Saturday.

So we managed to get 2 runners to achieve take off speed and fly around the airport. Which left a big group of 18 walkers to follow in their wake.
The W1 walkers were keen to keep up their usual pace around the tracks splitting the group in half. Although there appeared to be some competitive walkers in the W2 group , who were not prepared to let the W1s get too far ahead. Which meant the few at the back of the field had to find a few shortcuts to keep in touch with them all.
So everyone was back at the trailer for a cuppa on time , still under damp conditions. I did notice a few brollys in evidence but would make the point they need to be much bigger to shelter everyone.

Closing day lunch at “The Station” in Boundary road on Saturday 18 October $37. Any additions or deletions need to be with Barrie by this Friday 10 October

This Saturday we head for Pinders Pond. Meet at 12:30pm to catch the bus. The bus will stop at Ladysmith Road to drop off the W1 walkers who will walk on to Pinders Pond. The bus will then carry on to Millers Flat ,where the W2 walkers will be thrown out , who will then have to walk to Pinders pond to catch the bus home again. Forecast is for temperature to rise into the 20s, so high probability the whitebait will be running this Saturday
Hope to see you all there.
