This Saturday we head away on a mystery walk / run. Please meet at 12 midday corner Walton & Thompson streets, to catch a bus ride to where ever it is we are going to. Our club captain Jojo knows where we are going ,but will not be there, Likewise president Mike. They assure us they have told the bus driver where to go , so let’s hope the driver will be there. M-Zs duty pack for final time in 2024 season.
Last Saturday 30 plus members made the trip up to Bendigo , for an exploration of some of the tracks and trails in the area.
There was some concern after flooding around the East coast , it would be very wet underfoot. Creeks and streams were higher than usual
No one had organised a long walk on the Kanuka track , but 2 members did head up early and explored some of the track ,as well as some farm tracks as they went off piste , losing the DOC track for a time.
The remaining W1s set off around the Aurora track looping round to also take in some of the tracks on the other side with the shafts and Matilda battery.
No volunteers for the W3 group so the W2s had a big group of around 20 members, which split up with around 6 in the W3 group ,later growing to around 10.
Members took the opportunity to smell the roses, taking in the views and photos. They headed down the dray track before joining the Aurora track in the opposite direction to the W1s. As they got nearer to Welshtown , they split off in all directions to extend their walk.
The W4s remained a select group of 2 , taking in the local tracks.
Afternoon tea was several minutes early as most groups were back early.

As Mike mentioned at afternoon tea on Saturday the Club will reimburse drivers who took cars to Bendigo for their petrol costs. Can these drivers please email their bank account details to John at thompsonfamily@actrix.co.nz or text them to him on 0274 367 793. If you don’t send John your bank account details then he will chase you up and pay you in cash!
This Saturday is our penultimate outing for the 2024 season. The following Saturday is closing day 19 October , with a walk from the Bowling club.
Lunch will be $35 this year. Either put your name down on the list this Saturday or contact Barrie 021 445 918 to book your place .Please pay into club account 03 1733 0004935 00 and remember to put your name down and lunch in reference fields.
Weather should be ok on Saturday , but difficult to deal with the weather god when we don’t know where we need the good weather.
