Businessperson’s Track

This Saturday we head to Merino Ridges  / German Hills in the Ida Valley . If you wish to get a bus ride there , then please be on the corner of Walton & Thompson streets at 12 noon with A-Ls duty pack this week.

On Saturday the fog had finally moved on ,but some cloud remained ,and it  did not seem as warm as promised by weather forecasters.

Legs 11 W1 walkers took some  cars  out to Clyde at midday and walked back along the river track to Alex , a trip of around 13km. 2walkers  were way ahead of the rest of the group , but ended up with a bit of a handicap by taking a wrong turn in the Ngapara pools area.

At 1pm about 20 W2 walkers and 4 or so W3 walkers headed upstream from the Alex boat ramp, And by the time they got to the Ngapara pools area, they decided to  veer right , coming to a bit of a dead end. I suggested we go back and take the left track towards the river  which most of the group did. But Barrie and a couple others decided they were right and could get round. Well I guess they did, even if we didn’t see them until we got back to the boat ramp. We continued through the willows  before climbing up into the pines and returning through the streets ,before dropping back down onto the track at Clutha street.

We did notice the river level was quite low ,but as we can see from Mike’s photo ,Contact was spilling some water down stream to try to get the level up

And we have a couple of pictures of the Earnscleugh Number 3 dredge, when operating way back then  and today.

The Harrier curling team had a narrow loss to a bunch from Clyde 5 -4 . As these Clyde curlers also come along to harriers , I did warn them they could be led into a water hole somewhere on Saturday if they won , Strange I didn’t see them on Saturday. Not that the happy harriers take their curling seriously or carry a grudge.

Our club treasurer is also a bit grumpy. In the raffle attendance fee ,he has been getting some old NZ and Australian 20cent coins , which are not legal tender and have not been for quite some years. He has been threatening to return them to their owner. So coin dumper ,be warned ,legal tender only. Or else the treasurer may reinsert them in any  slot  he can find

Joe was going to send  a map out ,but I have not received it  yet . So there may be  a late email or not ,we will see.

I am back on call for work this week , so will not be joining you at Merino Ridges. But if you wish to wander amongst the sarsen stones  , then this will be  your lucky day

Weather should be  and don’t forget to send your photos in
