This Saturday is a local outing for the Kings birthday. Please meet 1:00pm corner Walton & Thompson streets with M-Zs duty pack this week.
Little Valley has always been a popular outing on the Harrier calendar. Way back in the 1980s , that was probably due to Stella Sanders ,who would spend the week prior to the harriers visiting , baking up a storm. So by the time the harriers arrived at the farmhouse, there was a feast for afternoon tea. Real country hospitality back then. It was suggested to Stella that she didn’t have to do all that baking. Oh I don’t mind baking.
Not sure why it is still such a popular venue today , but around 50 members made their way out there. Joe led a group of 18 W1 walkers for a walk to the north side of the road.. A number were heard to say they had never seen that part of the country and some were still unsure exactly where they went to. Lucky for them ,Mike had his map running so you can see where they went. Although I am not sure where their leader took them , as there does not appear to be many straight lines
They also encountered some fallow deer on their journey. Not sure if related to Ewan or not.
About 24 W2 walkers got off the bus to walk on out ,starting off on the south side of the road , before cutting over to the north side and catching up the old water race. Before returning to the road and on down to the woolshed.
Which left a handful of W3 walkers and a couple of runners to stay on the bus to the woolshed , before venturing out from there.
Everyone was back to the bus within about 5-10 minutes of each other. A-Ls certainly provided plenty of afternoon tea. Someone suggested that maybe we need to change duty pack from A-Ds and E-Zs . Think we will hold off on that for now.
At this stage club dinner will be held on 13 July , probably at the senior citizens rooms. Cost likely to be $35 -$40 and drinks will be BYO. Further details as they come to hand and closer to the date. Payment will be required in advance.
We are occasionally asked to advertise some event (perhaps an advertising income stream) .This week some group would like help planting dope , I mean natives on the half mile. See attached poster.
Hopefully a couple of forecast showers will work around with our harrier outing on Saturday. Hope to see you there
