This week is a mystery outing for the harriers. Our club captain knows where we are going , but as she is still suffering in the sunshine over in the land of Oz , that is not much use to us. Fortunately she has told our bus driver where to go, and the bus driver has said “Be on the corner of Walton & Thompson streets at 12 midday to catch a bus ride. He will do a Clyde pickup opposite Trail Journeys about 12:05pm and a Cromwell pickup by the big fruit about 12:20pm”
A-L s duty pack this week.
This Saturday attendance was down into low 30s for a walk along the Lake Dunstan Trail. 13 W1 walkers did their best to include a couple of hills into their walk before dropping back down onto the Lake Trail. About 16 W2 walkers wandered along the lake trail, getting much closer to Champagne Gully this week
Whilst the W3 walkers did not wander quite so far.
The Coast guard were seen out in the lake, whether it was just an exercise , or had heard that someone in the harriers had been thinking of nudging someone into the lake as they raced past, I am not sure.
The committee is considering trying to restart a running group in the club, as several walkers were observed running this week.
After the email writer did a bit of a stir last week , about groups getting back late (1 hour plus ) from outings , everyone appeared to be on best behaviour . Everyone was back on time and our president made sure of this by mingling in the W2 group this week.
The harrier season is fast coming to a close , with just 5 more outings. Closing day is on 18 October with lunch planned for “The Station ” 50 Boundary road. Barrie will get a list out soon and will advise cost.
So make sure you are early to catch the bus at midday on Saturday to ensure you get a seat. It’s a mystery but we now know, it will be north or west of Alexandra as bus will do pick ups at Clyde and Cromwell. As we are not sure exactly where we are going , we will have to try for a generally fine day from our weather god.
Hope to see you somewhere this Saturday
