Hi all
Another reminder that if you haven’t renewed your membership, please put $40 into the harrier bank account 03 1733 0004935 00 with Your Name and Sub as reference. You also need to fill in the membership form which you can download here – https://alexharriers.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Alexandra-Harriers-2026-Membership-Application-Form.pdf You can either email it back to info@alexharriers.co.nz or bring it along on Saturday and give to Graham or John T.
Remember to let Mike know if you want to register for the Matariki weekend tramp, and Barrie know if you want to go to the Club dinner on 20 June.
This Saturday 6 June, we are going up to Waikerikeri Valley. Meet at the normal place at 1pm to carpool. Duty pack are the A-Ls. The weather gods are saying a possibility of a shower for this Saturday!
Not too many Harriers were off for the Kings awards this weekend so we had a good turnout for our walks.
Peter led the 10 W1s up a track that was so steep, that it was claimed they needed a ladder to climb up it- and it supposedly went on forever! These diversions made it a memorable walk for them!
Barrie led the 8 W2s up the old Little Valley road to the top, and then down the gully to Lake Roxburgh with only a few complaints about the hill. They enjoyed great views looking out over the Alexandra basin on the way up!
The two W3s went across the river via Shakey Bridge and definitely did not return over the Bailey bridge after seeing a sign that looked like it indicated no pedestrians! You will just have to guess how they returned to the cars without wet feet! They sat down at the picnic table to wait for everyone to return, but it got too cold so had to retreat to the car!
The W2s were next back, and they heard the W1s returning long before they could see them. With no afternoon tea today, it was a very quick, and early, exit to the Ida for post walk refreshments.
See you next time – but not sure if it will be this Saturday!
Gary
