Different start times so pay attention. Club trailer will be parked at Olrig Station.<br>For those wanting to walk the whole way (18-21km depending on who you ask ), meet 10am corner Walton &amp; Thompson streets to car pool out to Olrig and set off from there. Remember to bring warm clothing (just in case ) as well as lunch and water.<br>For those wanting to ride mountain bike out , meet at 11am at the old Alexandra railway station. You can shorten this if you need to , by taking your bike out to Olrig and riding from there.<br>For everyone else ,meet at 12:30pm (not 12 midday in programme) corner Walton &amp; Thompson streets to catch the bus ,which will drop you off along the way to Ophir.<br>M-Zs duty pack this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday we had about 40 people turn up for a wander along and up Omeo Gully.<br>The 8 or so W3 walkers headed on up the hill overlooking Blackmans road, before returning to the billy ,spot on time (plus 1 minute ) for afternoon tea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 17 W2 walkers went to the left ,saw the W3 walkers on top of the ridge, and decided stuff that ,and carried on up the valley. They disturbed a couple of red deer , who took off further up the valley. They did have to cross a couple of muddy gully&#8217;s but shoes were cleaned after several creek crossings.<br>It can be a bit slippery in some of those gullys ,but I promised not to tell, if someone slipped over. Soo, nothing happened ,okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meantime the remaining W1 walkers headed on up Omeo Gully , climbing the ridge to the south before returning back down. The encountered the 2 red deer the W2s had sent up to meet them , before dropping back down to the billy for afternoon tea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Birthday greetings were sung to Ewan Fallow and Steve Tohill , who celebrated birthday&#8217;s last week.<br>Mike Kotkamp advised he has a full van booked in for the Routeburn tramp. If you are still interested and have not yet contacted him, please do so in next week or so , he may be able to throw you in the trailer ,or organise another vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to closure of the Omakau bridge for a month , we will be swapping walks on 7 &amp; 28 June , ie. 7 June Flat Top ,28 June Blackstone Hill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This Saturday we head for Ophir or Olrig Station , or points in between. Weather god is not promising a fine day ,possibility of some rain developing , so bring along a jacket or brolly. Long walkers depart10am ,remember warm clothing and pack a lunch .Bikers depart 11am from rail trail Alex station.
