This Saturday we are scheduled to go to Conroys Dam<\/strong> ,meeting corner Walton & Thompson streets at 1:00pm <\/strong>, to car pool  out with M-Zs <\/strong>duty pack this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please keep an eye on your email inbox , as this may change to a different venue . Concern is with recent rainfall over past week or so , it may be very muddy and slippery near car park area at dam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Friday was a very chilly day for many with an unseasonal snowfall , but Jack it seems  was busy  creating Frosty.  Others were very chill , with power off to a number of places from a couple of hours , to all day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So with numbers down into the mid to low  20s over the last couple of outings, it came as a surprise to have numbers back into the  mid 40s , for a changed venue  of Weatherall creek and the Lake Dunstan trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So it was pretty much a there and back outing for the different walking groups. The W4s walking group were probably the most consistent group in  way of numbers .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The W1s,2s and 3s split and merged groups as they made their way along and back to Weatherall creek. The W1s started off heading up the high track, but soon were getting their ears chewed by musterers , trying to drive a big mob of sheep along for shearing ,on this higher track. First time i have actually seen any sheep on the front faces of these hills. So lucky for the W1s the dogs didn’t round them up for shearing as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The track was relatively dry considering the rain and snow we have had , and encountered 15-20 cyclists along the trail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Everyone back on time for afternoon tea at the car park , concluded with a couple of parasailers landing in the carpark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those looking for something to do on Saturday morning Jojo has as suggestion as follows<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is news from the LMR working group!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Galloway Irrigation Society and Central Excavating we now  have a large cleared area near the dam wall. Chris Robinson (Central excavating) cleared Raupo and Crack Willow from the shore line to reveal a large raw area perfect for planting flaxes. See photo below<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our first planting bee for this area is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 21st September 9.30am – 11am<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bring gumboots, this is a muddy and messy planting experience. Be prepared to get dirty for this one. We have got around 50 flaxes to go in the mud for this planting bee. The rest of the area will be given more time to settle so stay tuned for a planting bee come autumn 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well ,that’s about it for now. We have a committee meeting on Wednesday , so if any news or changes will send another email out later in the week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
