I’ve turned into a fair weather harrier – Last Saturday, I poked my head out the door about midday and headed back inside. The ones who walked down would have got a bit damp – so a good day for cars!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At least 8 or 9 W1s set off early to walk over to Matangi Station. Everyone saw a bit of wild life – starting off with the old goats, and then deer, younger goats and maybe even the odd wild pig. They started in rain but it turned out really nice and warm. They climbed up to the trig and then headed over to Matangi Station, picking up the W2s along the way to return in time for afternoon tea.
The rest of the group left at 1pm to drive out to the Little Valley woolshed. The W2s were wandering around the hills there before they met up with W1s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Its reported that the W3s did a walk too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Wishing the eight off on their Matariki tramp this weekend a great walk, hopefully a dry and snow free tramp into the Caples and Greenstone Valleys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of us are carpooling out to the start of the Fraser Weir Road – turn into Hawksburn Road (toward the old Clyde Lookout) and then turn left at the base of the hill to go along the road to Fraser Weir – we will park in a flat area there before it starts going up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meet at the normal place on River\/Thompson\/Walton Streets at 1pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
